Promising Foods that Stop COVID, the Flu & Colds

You are worth it!

In the US, our population is faring much worse than other countries against COVID-19. According to the CDC, people more likely to have severe illness from COVID-19 are those who have underlying medical conditions that include: cancer, COPD, heart conditions, immunocompromised, obesity, smoking, and type-2 diabetes.

Chronic Disease
Reflecting on the risk factors (associated with COVID-19,) we’re dealing with chronic disease; aka: disease brought on through lifestyle choices. A significant number of our fellow Americans (family, friends, neighbors, co-workers) are affected. According to the CDC, 42.4% of Americans are obese, 12% smoke, and nearly 10% are diagnosed with type-2 diabetes. Not to mention, the leading cause of death being heart disease followed by cancer. The pandemic has brought to the forefront, the immediate need to address lifestyle choices. The time is now. You are worth it.

Health Workshops
At the height of the pandemic, you’ve had the opportunity to be a part of our in-office conversations and health workshops, including: Boosting Immune Function in COVID Times that provide education and information on natural alternatives to support better outcomes with COVID-19 infections and ways to boost immune function. Excitingly, it can start in your very own kitchen!

Foods that Help Us
A new study from the Journal of Cellular Medicine and Natural Health titled, Micronutrient Combination Inhibits Two Key Steps of Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) Infection: Viral Binding to ACE2 Receptor and Its Cellular Expression provides hopeful data on how a combination of micronutrients that include cruciferous vegetables and quercetin-rich foods block the coronavirus from binding to its anchor site within the body, thus reducing the potential for infection. SARS-CoV-2 infects human cells by first binding to specific receptors (ACE2) on the surface of cells allowing it to enter and ultimately integrate its DNA into human cells. “This binding mechanism is the decisive determinant of viral infectivity and development of COVID-19. Moreover, it is also a major target for the development of vaccines and other therapeutics.” It was found that concentrated dosing of a micronutrient soup made up of cruciferous plant extract, quercetin, turmeric root extract, green tea extract and resveratrol blocked 97% of coronavirus to its specific ACE2 receptor. Meaning micronutrients can almost completely prevent viral infectivity. That’s a big deal!
