Meet Dr. Miaken L. Zeigler, D.C.

Dr. Miaken L. Zeigler is originally from Sturgis, South Dakota. Dr. Miaken is a second generation chiropractor as her father served the Sturgis community with chiropractic care for 28-years! Having worked in her dad’s office for 5-summers, she witnessed (and experienced) the body’s amazing ability to heal through chiropractic care; whether it was for pain relief or wellness and preventive care, patients got better and consistently made healthier lifestyle choices!

Dr. Miaken is an avid athlete and outdoor enthusiast. She played college basketball for the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology while pursuing her B.S. in Environmental Engineering. An All-American athlete, she utilized chiropractic on a regular basis to stay in top form. Often her dad was onsite to adjust both the team and daughter before and/or after games!

After graduation, Dr. Miaken worked for Burns & McDonnell Engineering and Consulting. Her goal: to positively impact the environment through remediation/clean-up and providing greener solutions to her community. However, work as engineer left her unfulfilled. With a strong desire to help and work with people, she decided to turn to chiropractic, a lifetime constant.

Dr. Miaken received her Doctorate of Chiropractic from Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, Minnesota. While there, she had the opportunity to intern in Minneapolis, Costa Rica, and China. She was chosen by the Dean and Faculty of NWHSU to complete a three month preceptorship at Beimen Orthopedic and Spinal Hospital in Tianjin, China. Studies included bone setting, acupuncture and radiology with an emphasis on integrative, patient-centered care. During the internship, she worked closely with Eastern and Western Medicine doctors for the treatment of all conditions ranging from low back and neck pain to indigestion, skin complaints, and stroke. With each clinical and patient experience, Dr. Miaken continued to note the importance of the chiropractic adjustment: to clear the nerve system to improve the body’s ability to adapt to everyday stressors, whether it is physical, chemical (nutritional) or environmental.

Dr. Miaken has completed extensive training with the International Pediatric Chiropractic Association (ICPA) on prenatal, pregnancy, and post-natal care. Dr. Miaken is Webster Certified, which is a specific technique utilized for pregnant women to balance pelvic structure and soft tissues that hold/move the pelvis. Dr. Miaken received chiropractic care at the start and throughout life; and has a passion to provide care for the whole family, including newborns! Dr. Miaken’s youngest patient/adjustment was 1-day old and oldest 92! All benefit from chiropractic care, especially at the start of life!

Prior to Monarch Family Chiropractic, Dr. Miaken owned and operated Zeigler Chiropractic for eight years in the Golden Triangle. Although she loved the practice and community, the birth of her daughter, Margot, left her desiring for work/life balance. A conversation with her chiropractor, Dr. Kristen Zawada led to the dream of a partnership. January 2022 brought the dream to fruition. Together, they share a mission to help, serve, love, and inspire as many people as possible through chiropractic care.
